Tango And Cash

Ray Tango is a Los Angeles narcotics cop who dresses in fancy suits, wears wire-rim glasses, and talks to his stockbroker more than he talks to his mother. Gabriel Cash is a Los Angeles narcotics cop who has long, disheveled hair, and dresses in worn-out sweatshirts. Even though they are rivals, Tango and Cash are the two best narcs in LA, which infuriates drug kingpin Yves Perret. Perret wants Tango and Cash out of the way, so Perret frames them for the murder of an undercover FBI agent. Perret's plan is to have Tango and Cash killed in prison in order to avoid risking all-out war with the LAPD. But Tango and Cash accept a plea bargain that will give them 18 months in a minimum-security prison, then Perret arranges for their destination to be diverted to a maximum-security prison where Perret's minions proceed to torture Tango and Cash. Tango and Cash are forced to work together in a spectacular escape from the prison. After the escape, Tango and Cash set out to prove their innocence, and Cash has a romance with Tango's sister Catherine

Microsoft Ereader

Microsoft Reader is a Microsoft program for reading of ebooks.

Microsoft Reader is available for download from Microsoft as a free program. It was originally released in August 2000. It is more useful on a Pocket PC. Although some of the latest Windows Mobile Devices have not been bundled with it, it is still available to download for the Pocket PC. It uses ClearType Technology for easy reading on small PDA screens. It displays books in the .LIT file format (The ".LIT" stands for "literature"). These books can be purchased and downloaded from online stores, including FictionWise

Among the features of Microsoft Reader are highlighting and doodling/scribbling designed for quick note-taking, text notes and a search function. Other features include finding the last page one was on, your most recent page and a library of all e-books. Depending on the book, there can be a cover image and images throughout the book. The PC version also has an optional plugin for Text To Speech, enabling books to be read out loud.

Chief Inspector Lee and Detective James Carter are back! But this time they're now in Hong Kong on a vacation. However, soon after they arrive, a bomb explodes in the American Embassy. And Inspector Lee is assigned to the case, which becomes personal when it is discovered that the man behind it is Ricky Tan, Lee's father's former partner. Tan, who played an instrumental role in his father's death, who is now the leader of the Triads, the most deadly gang in all of China. The American and Hong Kong authorities soon get into a fight over the jurisdiction of the case. Lee learns that Ricky Tan will be attending a dinner party on his boat. When confronted, Tan claims that someone is trying to frame him. Tan's underling, Hu Li, appears and shoots Tan, and he falls off the boat. In the chaos, Hu Li escapes into a sewer come emerge in downtown Las Vegas, but Carter and Lee are forced to be sent back to Los Angeles. But later in Las Vegas, at the Red Dragon Casino, Lee has been framed when Ricky Tan faked his death and is now still alive but Hu Li places a small bomb in his mouth, and gags him. But will Carter save him while he's still makes a big commotion and distracts the security forces?

Liar Liar

Fletcher Reede (Carrey) is a particularly career-focused lawyer and divorced father. He has a habit of giving precedence to his job, breaking promises to be with his young son Max, and then lying to both Max and his ex-wife Audrey about the real reason he missed the get-together. Fletcher lets Max down once too often, missing his birthday party, and has to deal with the consequences of a wish Max makes while blowing out the candles on his cake that actually comes true. The wish is that Fletcher cannot tell a lie for an entire day. The plot is reminiscent of The Twilight Zone episode "The Whole Truth," which involves a used car salesman being forced into uninhibited honesty by a haunted car. Fletcher soon has several embarrassing instances where he blurts out exactly what he is thinking and figures out that he is unable to lie or even withhold a true answer. Some of these instances include: After sleeping with a colleague, she asks "was it good for you?" "I've had better," he responds. Also when he walks out of the elevator and everyone is plugging their nose, he admits "It was me!". When an obese man asks "What's up," he says, "Your cholesterol, fatty! Dead man walkin'." He also tells a co-worker he doesn't know his name because he's not important enough. When he tries to explain his situation to his secretary, she doesn't believe him so he sets himself up good. He tells her to ask him something she thinks he would normally lie about. She asks him about a raise she wanted a couple months ago. Fletcher had told her it would make the other secretaries jealous. She asks if that was true or if he just didn't want to "pony up the dough". These incidents come at a rather bad time as he is fighting a child custody case in court, which, should he win, could be a huge boost to his career.

His main witness is willing to commit perjury to help win but Fletcher discovers he cannot even ask a question if he knows the answer will be a lie. Meanwhile, Audrey is threatening to move to Boston with her new boyfriend, Jerry, and take Max with them. Over the course of the film, Fletcher realizes what is truly important to him and, at the end, struggles to stop his son from being taken so far away from him. He also manages to win the case truthfully by using a loophole in the law, with the repercussions being a major catalyst to his understanding of what he is likely to lose. When he sees the results of winning the case (the mother of the children tries to stop them saying goodbye to their father), he ends up shouting at the judge to reverse the decision and gets thrown in jail for contempt in court. When telephoning Audrey to bail him, she refuses. However, his old secretary turns up and bails him. Near the end, Fletcher hijacks a stairway used to get onto planes and rushes towards his son. He is injured after an accident but does manage to speak to his son. The "Curse" finishes at 8:15 pm, but Fletcher vows to tell nothing but the truth from now on.

Superman Returns

For five years, Superman (Brandon Routh) has been away from Earth, coaxed into space by a belief that Krypton may still exist. Finding nothing, he comes back to a changed world--not only has terrorism become rampant, but Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth) has married, started a family, and won the Pulitzer for her piece "Why the World Doesnt Need Superman." After a stop in Smallville to see his adopted mother (Eva Marie Saint), Superman is back in Metropolis, and Clark Kent has his old job back at the Daily Planet, with everyone still incredibly oblivious to his alter ego. But where theres Superman, there's Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey), and he is likely to be planning something dastardly--in this case, using a piece of pilfered kryptonite to grow an entirely new continent that he will control.

Bryan Singer (X-MEN 1 and 2), armed with a script by Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty, approaches the red cape with reverence for the lore of the character, and respect for Richard Donners SUPERMAN (1980) and Richard Lesters 1980 sequel, films that ushered in the era of the modern superhero film. Singers SUPERMAN is filled with melancholy, and not so subtly suggests the notion of Superman as a Christ figure, sacrificing himself to save mankind. But there are still laughs, mostly courtesy of Spacey (clearly having a blast) and Parker Posey as his moll, Kitty Kowalski, as well as plenty of gasp-inducing set pieces, including a spectacular and terrifying almost-plane crash and a sinking boat. While modern visual effects have allowed Superman to go to entirely new realms, Singer keeps them from becoming the films raison d'être, thus keeping the Man of Steels gigantic heart intact--heavy though it may be.

Die Hard 4.0

When someone hacks into the computers at the FBI's Cyber Crime Division; the Director decides to round up all the hackers who could have done this. When he's told that because it's the 4th of July most of their agents are not around so they might have trouble getting people to get the hackers. So he instructs them to get local PD'S to take care of it. And one of the cops they ask is John McClane who is tasked with bringing a hacker named Farrell to the FBI. But as soon as he gets there someone starts shooting at them. McClane manages to get them out but they're still being pursued. And it's just when McClane arrives in Washington that the whole system breaks down and chaos ensues.

NYPD Detective John McClane lives in Brooklyn, and he's now divorced from Holly Gennero, who lives in San Francisco. John has faced some brutal terrorists in his career, but now, he's about to face what may be his most dangerous enemy yet. John, who occasionally does jobs for the United States Department of Homeland Security, receives a call to bring in a hacker named Matt Farrell, because there has been a breach in an FBI computer system. Farrell is one of the many hackers who are suspected in the attack, and all known hackers are to be questioned. But after John gets to Matt's apartment, a group of men show up and try to kill John and Matt, who barely escape with their lives. As it turns out, a group of terrorists led by Thomas Gabriel are systematically shutting down the United States computer infrastructure. They crash the stock market, crippling America's economy. It turns out that Matt knows enough about hacking to know exactly how Gabriel is shutting down the USA. Gabriel, a disgraced former Department of Defense employee, plans to bring the country to its knees, but he doesn't count on John and Matt figuring out what's going on. Gabriel wants John and Matt out of the way, and for John, the situation becomes personal when an enraged Gabriel kidnaps John's daughter Lucy, who is a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Gabriel may think he now has the upper hand on John, but he has no idea how far John is willing to go to rescue Lucy.

Aditya (Shahid Kapur), a defeated industrialist, is even more broken as the girl he loves is getting married. He takes it upon himself to find her. In Denmark in the year 507 a.D., elderly King Hrothgar (Anthony Hopkins) dedicates his new mead hall in a drunken revelry. He and his people have conquered other lands and collected much booty. Although his queen, Wealthow (Robin Wright Penn) clearly disapproves, the assembled warriors and maidens clearly enjoy themselves. However, in a cavern not far from the mead hall, the singing and dancing is a painful nuisance to the misshapen half-human, half-demon Grendel (Crispin Glover). Enraged, Grendel attacks the mead hall and kills or maims many of the warriors. He spares Hrothgar's life, however. After he returns to the cavern, his mother, a water demon (Angelina Jolie) soothes him. The next day, Hrothgar orders the mead hall sealed and sends out a call for a hero to come and rid the kingdom of Grendel.

Several months later, Beowulf (Ray Winstone) answers the call. His troops are led by his second-in-command, Wiglaf (Brendan Gleeson). Beowulf and his band are not Danes but rather Geats, which rankles Hrothgar's proud battle commander, Unferth (John Malkovich). He mocks Beowulf's legendary feats. Beowulf orders the mead hall reopened; that is where he will fight Grendel. That night, another party (though more subdued) is held. Wealthow plays her lute and sings. She and Beowulf are clearly attracted to one another. Hrothgar promises to give Beowulf his Dragon Horn, a beautiful gold mead cup with a dragon carved into the side of it, should he kill Grendel. That night, after the Danes have gone to bed, Beowulf's men sing bawdy songs to lure Grendel. When Grendel arrives, he slays many of Beowulf's men. Beowulf strips nude to fight Grendel hand to hand. He bursts Grendel's ear drums then severs his arm. As Grendel slinks into the night, Beowulf taunts him with boasts about his own strength and power. Grendel returns to the cavern where, with his dying breath, he tells his mother the name of the man who killed him.

The kingdom rejoices at Grendel's death. After a day of celebration, Beowulf and his men are to leave the next morning. That night, however, Grendel's mother comes to Beowulf in a dream, disguised as Wealthow. She asks him to give her another son. When he awakes, he discovers all of his men slaughtered. Only Wiglaf survives because he was tending to their ship, miles from the mead hall. Hrothgar reveals to Beowulf who killed his men -- Grendel's mother. He also reveals that Grendel was his own son, which is why Grendel spared him in the initial attack, and why Wealthow refuses to give him a human heir. Beowulf announces his intent to kill Grendel's mother. To show his new faith in Beowulf and his strength, Unferth gives him his own familial sword. Beowulf goes to the cavern to kill Grendel's mother. He uses the Dragon Horn to light his way. But, taking the form of a naked, beautiful woman, she seduces him with promises of power. When he returns to the mead hall, Beowulf delights the assembled with tales of how he killed Grendel's mother. He apologizes for losing both Unferth's sword -- Grendel's mother melted it with her magic -- and the Dragon Horn -- she kept it as a symbol of their truce. Hrothgar, no stranger to her charms, recognizes that she has seduced Beowulf. He tells his subjects that, upon his death, Beowulf will be their new king. He then leaps from the castle tower to his death on the rocky shore below. The crown is immediately placed on Beowulf's head.

Years pass. Beowulf is a good leader to the Danes and his power and fame spread. He does not enjoy being king though, and guilt over his betrayal of Hrothgar nag him. He, too, is unable to sire an heir, either on Wealthow or his willing concubine, Ursula (Alison Lohman). One day, Unferth, who is now a Christian priest, brings to him the Dragon Horn, which had been found in a barren moor. Beowulf realizes that it means that the truce between Grendel's mother and Beowulf is now over, though he cannot reveal that to anyone else. That night, a giant fire-breathing dragon attacks the village. It briefly takes a human form and tells Unferth to deliver a message to Beowulf. It then resumes burning people to death. Badly burned himself, Unferth tells Beowulf the dragon's message: the sins of the father are visited upon the sons.

Beowulf knows he must fight and kill both the dragon and its mother. He and Wiglaf return to the cavern but as soon as Beowulf enters, Grendel's mother sends the dragon after him. He and Wiglaf barely escape its fiery breath then chase it as it flies towards Beowulf's castle. As Danish soldiers battle the dragon with arrows and spears, Beowulf climbs onto the dragon and searches for a way to kill it. The dragon makes his way to the castle and traps Wealthow and Ursula on a breezeway. Beowulf finally finds the dragon's weak point and, cutting it open, plunges his hand into the dragon's breast and rips its heart out. He and the dragon fall to the rocky shore. Mortally wounded, Beowulf watches as the dragon transforms into a human who looks like his father. Beowulf then dies.

Wiglaf is now king. He tearfully watches as Beowulf's burial ship is set ablaze then sinks into the sea. Just as the ship begins to slip beneath the waves, Grendel's mother appears and kisses Beowulf's body. The Dragon Horn washes ashore at Wiglaf's feet. He picks it up then sees Grendel's mother rise from the waves, tempting him anew.

Prem (Salman Khan) is a Love Guru who solves out love problems of everyone. He meets Bhaskar Diwakar Chaudhary (Govinda) who comes to Prem for help in his love life. Bhaskar loves his Boss Priya Jaisingh (Katrina Kaif) but unable to express his love to her as she is the daughter of a wealthy buisinessman. Prem initially refuses to help Bhaskar and goes to Thailand. Bhaskar followes him there and convinces him to help him.

After coming back from Thailand, Prem meets Naina (Lara Dutta) a photo journalist who was running from some gangsters led by Chhota Don, who mimicks Shah Rukh Khan in Don, in one scene Rohan, Naina's child urinates on Chotta Don and is, at the end a big character in the story. (Rajpal Yadav). Prem saves her and falls in love with her. Meanwhile he starts teaching Bhaskar how to impress Priya. But Bhaskar uses his own simplicity and non-sense acts to impress Priya. Priya finally falls in love with Bhaskar but does not disclose it to him.

Prem comes to know from Bhaskar that Priya is getting married to someone according to her father's will. They both come to Priya's wedding ceremony with Naina and Priya's father is convinced by Bhaskar's acts. Priya now gets ready to marry Bhaskar.

Meanwhile a spoiled brat named Neil comes to Prem for love help and he asks Prem to convince a girl for a one night stand. Prem gets angry with Neel and tells him that he does not help people who have such bad intentions. Neel somehow manages to get his one night stand and then ditches her, telling her the love guru gave him advice to do so. Unfortunately the girl turns out to be a friend of Naina's. Naina hates Prem for what he did to her friend and Naina started hating Prem and frames him and Bhaskar for ditching Priya.

At last Prem makes up with Naina and Bhaskar patches up with Priya and they get married. On the honeymoon night Bhaskar again asks Prem for help but this time they both get mingled with their respective wives.

Batman Begins

Kabir Khan (Shahrukh Khan), the unfairly-disgraced ex-captain of the Indian National Men's Hockey Team, redeems himself by coaching the squabbling, newly-created, National Women's Hockey Team to World Cup victory against the six-time trophy-winning Australian Women's team.

Chak De India begins with the final minutes of a game between the Indian and Pakistani National Hockey Teams. Pakistan is leading 1 - 0 when Kabir is fouled. Although he did not have the ball, he is captain of the team and elects to take the penalty shot himself. However, his strike flies just above the goal, and India suffers a crushing defeat.

When a press photographer takes a picture of Kabir accepting a handshake from the head of the Pakistani team, Indian fans are outraged. Although the loss resulted only from a bad play, Kabir is accused of taking a bribe or deliberately throwing the game in sympathy with his co-religionists. An investigation is launched and Kabir is drummed out of the game. He collects his mother from the home his grandfather built, locks up the house amid cries of "Traitor" from his neighbors and disappears from public view.

Seven years later, Indian sport officials have reluctantly decided to create an Indian Women's Hockey Team. No one wants to coach, and one of Kabir's former teammates is encouraged to accept the job so that he and his wife can get a free trip abroad. But unbeknownst to the officials, Kabir is waiting in reception and he is eager to take the job. Since there are no other candidates, Kabir is appointed coach.

For political reasons, the best female players from each Indian state have been chosen, without regard to the position each normally plays. Most have had to fight their family in order to join the team, and all are more loyal to their home state than to India. There is a funny "who's on first" routine between the stadium manager and some players from remote parts of India.

Kabir begins the difficult process of shaping them into a team by punishing a player who arrives late to the first practice and tossing out everyone who says she plays for her own state instead of India when introducing herself. Nevertheless, as soon as they enter the dormitory, the oldest players attempt to reintroduce the same old regional segregation, and there is much infighting.

Kabir sets a grueling training regimen, including 4 a.m., 10 k runs, speed tests and biting criticism of their performance in an effort to make them work together. He benches every player who gets into a fight or refuses to play the position he assigns her. In short order, five girls are benched. Only when they apologize are they permitted to play. The most experienced player, Bindia Naik (Shilpa Shukla), who resents being taken out of the forward line, sits on the bench for seven days before the other player from her state, who has also been benched, persuades Bindia to relent.

A couple of the players are also faced with ongoing family objections. The goalie is married, and her husband's parents are pressuring her to quit. And Preeti (Segarika Ghatge), a forward from the Railways Team, is engaged to the newly-appointed Vice-Captain of the Indian National Cricket Team. He makes no secret of his opinion that women's hockey is trivial, that only cricket is important, and that his fiancée should start living in the fast lane by giving up her inconsequential game and marrying him.

Kabir deliberately exhausts the women in the hope that if they all hate him, they will bond with each other. Unfortunately, his plan works too well, and they all sign a petition to have him removed as coach. He tells them that their attitude is a loss for India and resigns. But before he leaves, he invites his staff and the players to lunch at McDonalds. None of the women will sit with Kabir or the staff. But when a rude young man makes a pass at one of the players, she slaps him. The boy retaliates, and the team rallies to fight back. Soon, all the young men in the restaurant join in, but they are overwhelmed by the players. Kabir repeatedly prevents the staff from intervening because this is finally a bonding moment for the women. Kabir's only action is to prevent a man from striking one of the women with a cricket bat from behind, which Kabir says is not fair play.

The men are trounced and the players are finally united. Haltingly, and without actually saying so, they indicate that they want Kabir to stay as their coach. He agrees and orders them to report for practice at 5 a.m. the next day.

Just when things are looking up, the government officials decide that they will not send the women to the World Cup after all. Kabir's ex-teammate demands that they admit they intend to use that money for the men's team. But Kabir proposes a challenge: The women will play the men's team, and if the women win, they get to go to the World Cup. The match is set for the next day.

The men are stunned when they discover they are to play the women. The men quickly score 3 goals in the first half. The two most chauvinistic of the sport officials are thrilled. One of them comes onto the field at half-time as Kabir is trying to reenergize the women. The official repeats a litany of disparaging remarks about the proper place of women in Indian society (at home, in the kitchen) and their abilities (always inferior to men). This gives the women new strength, and they are able to score two goals against the men. In the final minutes, Koumal (Chitrashi Rawat), another star forward who is smallest player on the team, refuses to pass the ball to Preeti, who is in scoring position, because neither will ever pass to the other. Koumal's shot is foiled, and the women lose. They are devastated.

But the men's captain honors the women, and the rest of the men's team follows suit. Then, most of the officials, who are the only spectators, rise and applaud, and the women show good sportsmanship by honoring the victors. The two chauvinistic officials have no choice but to agree to let the women go to the World Cup.

The team's problems are not over, however. The team arrives in Australia, and there is real culture shock when they see the state-of-the-art training facilities and the scanty bathing suits worn by players from other countries. Worse still, the very first match is against the Australian team, which has won the Cup six times. The Australians play hard and score within the first minute, a new record.

One of the Indian players argues (in Panjabi) with an Australian referee and is given a penalty card. Another is unable to follow the referee's instructions because the player doesn't understand English. She, too, gets a penalty. Meanwhile, the Australians make a goal on every penalty shot, as well as other goals. Preeti and Koumal continue to refuse to pass to each other, and this costs India. Australia wins, 7 - 0.

Moreover, Bindia is still not cooperating because she is angry that the goalie has been made team captain. She even propositions Kabir in an effort to be named team captain, but he refuses, letting her know that it is this very attitude that has caused her not to be chosen. Bindia is relegated to keeping the team water bottles full.

In order to stay in the competition, India must win the next day against England. The first half is played to a 0 - 0 score. Then India manages to score in the second half and holds the lead, for a surprising victory.

The Indian team withstands tough play against Germany and returns the dirty tricks of the Argentine team tit for tat, although Preeti and Koumal still refuse to work together, much to Kabir's frustration. As the Indian team wins one surprising victory after another, press and fans become more and more excited. One night, Kabir watches in awe as an Australian worker raises the Indian flag above the field. It's the first time Kabir has ever seen a "white man" raise the Indian flag, and Kabir feels enormous pride.

Then India must defeat Korea. The Korean team uses man-to-man marking, which Preeti and Koumal don't know how to overcome. Kabir tells Bindia that there is a job that only she can do for the team. Bindia goes into the game, and the Koreans are no match for her aggressive and experienced style of play.

Now India will face Australia again in the finals. There is worldwide excitement about these underdogs who came back from the worst rout in World Cup history to reach the finals. Crates of new equipment arrive unexpectedly from the makers of athletic equipment. Kabir receives universal respect from his international peers. A special dinner is held for the two finalist teams the night before the big match. The Indian team enters demurely in matching saris marked with the national colors. The Australians parade in black evening gowns, each one different. But the matching saris cannot conceal the fact that the Indian team is still not unified the way the Australians are.

Preeti and Koumal are lured onto the field by misleading messages. As each accuses the other of calling her out, Kabir appears. He tells them that India is going to lose the Cup the next day because there are two Indian players who will be playing for Australia, not India. He tells them that the Australians are not blind. They see that Preeti and Koumal will not pass to each other. After he leaves, Preeti, who has so far scored more goals than Koumal, insists that she, Preeti, will finish with more goals no matter what. Preeti feels she must do this in order to prove herself to her husband's parents.

The next day, India shocks the Australians by achieving an early goal, but poor teamwork by India allows the Australians to score two goals. In the final minutes, Koumal has the ball and the Australians are sure she won't pass to Preeti. But Koumal rises above her personal desires, passes to Preeti, and the score is tied. There is no score in extra time, so each side gets five strikes. Kabir picks Preeti among the five strikers, but she defers to Koumal.

India must go first, but the strike is blocked. Unfortunately, the Australians score against the Indian goalie. The same thing happens with the second shot for each side. Then Koumal makes a brilliant strike that goes in the net, and the score is now 4 - 3 Australia. The Australian strike is blocked. The results for the fourth strike are the same for both sides as for the third strike. Bindia takes the final strike for India and it is perfect. India leads 5 - 4, but the Australians have one more strike.

Kabir watches the Australian striker and sees where she intends to place the ball. Through force of will, he gets his goalie to look at him moments before the shot and signals to her where it will go. The shot is blocked by the Indian team captain, the same post Kabir held when his shot cost India the match against Pakistan seven years earlier, and he is redeemed. India triumphs.

All India goes wild. The returning victors are mobbed by press and fans. The captain/goalie's husband tells her how proud his parents are and Koumal's father, who disliked her joining the team, gives her a new hockey stick and advises her to hit any man who objects to his daughter playing hockey in the head with the new stick. Preeti's (forward) fiancé arrives with his own media following. Although he was furious that she refused to abandon competing for the Cup because it conflicted with the date he and her father had chosen for her wedding without ever consulting her, the fiancé now intends to propose to her again, in front of the entire world. He won't entertain the idea that she might refuse him. Of course, she does refuse him, telling him that now that everyone knows her name, she doesn't need to marry him, and he should try to learn some sportsmanship.

The players emerge and everyone calls for Kabir. The press report on his past playing skill with nothing but praise, as if he had never been forced out of the game by negative public opinion and journalistic irresponsibility. However, Kabir he is nowhere to be found. He has slipped away to rejoin his mother and bring her back home. As he reopens his house, the neighbors who called him "Traitor" gather quietly. He watches as a young Sikh boy scratches the hateful graffiti from the wall in front of his house. He gives him his old hockey stick and he runs off, filled with joy. The neighbors begin to applaud. Kabir is vindicated. He enters his house and closes the doors. He is home.
